Anjana & Francis's Wedding

The wedding Day

The Wedding Preparations

The photography team were requested to cover the complete event in the main location only –  see below. This was a 12 hour coverage of a Hindu ceremony and the subsequent reception

Where they had the wedding

The Empire Banqueting & Conference Hall is a Grade II listed building in Leicester, England. It was originally built in 1899 as a music hall, and it was known as the Empire Theatre. The Empire Banqueting & Conference Hall is a popular wedding venue because of its elegant atmosphere and its central location in Leicester. The hall can accommodate weddings of all sizes, and it offers a variety of wedding packages to suit every budget.

What was the weather like

November in the UK is oftern cold and damp. However, shorter days do lend thensleves to being able to use off camera flash for creative couples portraits

How did the wedding go

As can be seen from the photos, this was a typical Hindu wedding ceremony including the following steps

Sangamam: The first step is the Sangamam, which is the coming together of the bride and groom. The bride and groom are seated in front of a sacred fire, and the priest performs a ritual to purify them.

Kanyadaan: The Kanyadaan is the giving away of the bride by her father. The father places the bride’s hand in the groom’s hand, and the groom accepts her.

Vedarambha: The Vedarambha is the beginning of the Vedic rituals. The priest recites Vedic mantras, and the bride and groom make offerings to the fire.

Homa: The Homa is the sacred fire ceremony. The priest offers oblations to the fire, and the bride and groom pray for a happy and prosperous marriage.

Any good stories?

Around the corner from the Empire Banqueting & Conference Hall, is Abbey Park. We had planned to take Francis and Anjana off to the park for a couples shoot. However, we found that Abbey Park was bing used for 5th November Public Fireworks display, so ended up going to another park nearby. However, managed to get some photos of the couple with the fireworks
